Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly those related to the transportation of products, is a priority for Rexel. In 2014, the Group lowered

its total CO2 emissions by 8.1% on a like-for-like basis.

MANAGING GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS

Rexel generates relatively low di- rect CO2 emissions, but its distri- bution operations create a signifi- cant amount of indirect emissions due, for the most part, to products transportation to the end cus- tomer. In 2014, direct and in- direct emissions measured by the Group amounted to just un- der 130,000  TCO2e versus over 140,000 TCO2e in 2013.

MAIN SOURCES OF GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS Direct emissions include those re- lated to primary energy consump- tion (natural gas and domestic fuel) and transportation fuel consump- tion by company vehicles. They reached 83,058 TCO2e in 2014. Indirect emissions include those related to producing the electricity

and heat consumed by the Group s sites. They reached 46,528 TCO2e in 2014. Total emissions caused by energy consumption reached 79,803 TCO2e in 2014, i.e. a 6.9% reduction on a like-for-like basis. Emissions related to products transport by the internal vehicle fleet reached 19,588 TCO2e i.e. a reduction of 18%. Finally, emis- sions related to professional travel by the fleet of owned or leased cars reached 30,195 TCO2e i.e. a 3.6% reduction.

MEASURES TAKEN TO REDUCE THE CARBON FOOTPRINT Although the impact on climate change is relatively small, the Group strives to limit its green- house gas emissions by creating initiatives to reduce its sites ener- gy consumption, to optimize its lo- gistics processes and to modern- ize its fleet of vehicles.
